Spaceships

Hi Class! This morning the space shuttle Endeavour blasted off for its final mission. Here’s a link if you want to see it or read about it. Answer at least one of the following questions with specific personal connections.

  • Would you like to explore outer space? Explain your answer.
  • Should humans be exploring outer space? Explain your answer.
  • Do you think outer space will become a tourist destination? Explain your answer. How much would you be willing to pay for your ticket?

  1. Anna :D says:

NO!!! I would not want to explore outer space because I think its to dangerous and I don’t want to risk my life for something I can see out my window. Plus its way to much money.

    • Mr. Bell says:

You present some good arguments. Thanks for sharing.

Quick Fixes: ‘its to dangerous’ (it is = it’s; very dangerous = too dangerous)

    • RYRY321URME Johnson says:

you cant see all of space out your window though.

      • Mr. Bell says:

Perhaps, but you are looking out into space (even if you cannot see everything).

  2. Allie Sampson says:

I would want to go and explore outer space because It looks awesome and fun and I would want to see the other planets in space. I also would want to because then I can go to the moon and land on it. It would be cool when I go into space, I can see if there is any life on Mars. And I want to see how fast the spaceship take would be. 😉

    • Mr. Bell says:

I have also wondered how fast a spaceship feels during takeoff. The launch look so smooth on television, but I think it must be loud with nonstop shaking.

  3. did you know... daniel says:

that I would go to the moon and pay $1000.000.000 to go to the moon.

Yes I would want to go to outer space because i have always dreamed of going to outer space 😀

    • Mr. Bell says:

I think most (if not all) astronauts are dreamers and have imagined going into space from a very young age.

Quick Fix: Capital letters must be used to begin sentences and for the personal pronoun I.

  4. RYRY321URME Johnson says:

I think it would be a great opportunity but I don’t think I would because I would be very scared because I am up so high and I wouldn’t want to because I wouldn’t want to be up there for very long because when you go up you don’ come back down for a while.

I don’t really know really know if they should but I do think humans will go to far and make it possible to live in space.

I think they will and also make it possible to live there, shop, swim anything there. I don’t think they should though because I think it is a place everyone should wonder about and I think it will make more problems. The next thing you know we will be putting all our garbage in space. 🙁

    • Mr. Bell says:

Garbage in space is a problem. Perhaps because the junk is hard to see, no one worries about the mess out there.

Quick Fix: Read your first paragraph aloud. Should there be more punctuation?

      • SMALER#12 HAYDEN says:

Their was a ride in Disney World and it felt like a spaceship taking off, it would put a lot of pressure and push back your skin on your face.

  5. SMALER#12 HAYDEN says:

    1. I would so want to explore outer space, it would be so cool. I would love the no gravity so awesome.

    2. Yes I think it’s good that humans are exploring the outer space, maybe they’ll find other life on another planet or in a different galaxie.

    3. Yes I think outer space could become a tourist destination, it will probably cost a lot though when they first come out with it.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Would you rather spend the time and money to become an astronaut or the money to buy a ticket as a tourist?

  6. BQ says:

I don’t think humans should be exploring space because it causes holes in the atmosphere and leaves so much junk around our world you can’t even see the world any more.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Space junk is a concern. There are so many satellites in space right now and when they are no longer in use, they stay in orbit. Perhaps when they fall back to Earth, the idea is to let them incinerate as they enter the atmosphere.

      • RYRY321URME Johnson says:

They should go up there for good reasons like to get all the garbage out of space.

  7. meep teufele says:

I would love to explore outer space because I have always wanted to explore it . I think it would be very awesome.

    • Mr. Bell says:

What are some of the things you would be looking for or wanting to do in space?

  8. SMALER#12 HAYDEN says:

    spaceships=cool

  9. Jonny#17 says:

Yes I would like to go to outer space because it would soo much fun with the zero gravity.

  11. (Calvin) (CCF) (FORBES) says:

I would like to explore outer space I want to see space to believe how big it is

    • Mr. Bell says:

How far would you want to go? How long would you be willing to spend in space.

      • (Calvin) (CCF) (FORBES) says:

I would be willing to spend 1 month in outer space

        • (Calvin) (CCF) (FORBES) says:

but I would miss my family

          • Mr. Bell says:

The astronauts on the space station often spend six months or more in space. I suppose it would be an amazing experience, but a lonely one too.

  12. Ts'setkwu Rocks!!! :) ;) says:

Yes I would like to explore space because I think it would be pretty cool and fun. 🙂 😉

  13. did you know i like cheese... daniel says:

I do like space but my only problem is that I am afraid of heights. yes me a big macho nacho man like me afraid of a little heights. crazy I tell you, CRAZY 😀 . should humans be working in space yes and no. why, well you shouldn’t be in space for to long because there is no gravity in space. that creates a problem because it enables your spine to grow freely. thats why you need to exercise so much in space.

but then again, space COULD be an option for future references. Did you know that Because of glaciers on Mars and the sand and rocks, people think that we could bring plants there . then once their planted, oxygen would form and create a life-supporting atmosphere, creating weather. then the glaciers would melt forming body’s of water. We could then bring ourselves and animals to Mars and build city’s!

If the theory’s true then outer space could become a tourist attraction. we could start our own star trek.

  14. savannah says:

I guess I would like to explore outer space because it would be awesome to find other living things out in space.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Imagine if living creatures were discovered. How do you think humans would react? Would they want to ‘catch’ them, study them, or leave them alone?

  15. Jacob Kealey says:

I think NASA will probably end up creating a new age of spacecrafts because their scientist might b thinking of an efficient way of making a space ship take off so they’ll probably be no more spaceships of that type anymore.

  16. Lea Andrews says:

I would never want to go out in space even though it looks really cool I still will never want to go up into space because, it is very dangerous and because what would happen if the spaceship shuts down or runs out of fuel how would you get out of space.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Those are concerning issues that all astronauts deal with. Keep in mind there are many scientists involved; they consider all the worrisome things that could happen and come up with solutions.

  17. Ashley Evin says:

I think it would be a great experience to explore the outer space, because if you went out to space it would be like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

I think humans should be exploring outer space to find out new things and experience stuff that are out of this world.

I don’t think that outer space should become a tourist destination becasue outer space can be dangerous.
