I am Thinking about a human android device that can do chores, babysit, feed, eat, etc….
It would be biotic 1/2 human 1/2 robot. I hope there is some research into this subject,
If this such type of biotic human exist, then I wanna try and improve on this technology any way I can.

  2. tj says:

My topic is to design an air bag fit for a down hill mountain bike. I am passionate about this topic because I love to mountain bike. I want to learn about this topic to see what kind of design is needed to protect the most body parts. My plan is to use a slide show to demonstrate how the air bag would look and work.

  3. gurisha says:

My topic: a iPhone that has a 3D printer that can make real edible food.
Why am i passionate about his: Because the idea of a iPhone that can make real food is really cool and it also just simply appeals to me.
What do i want to learn: I just want to a bit of research to see if it can actually be done.
New ideas: I dont have any new ideas because i made this iPhone up.
What will my presentation look like: it will be a poster. It will have a drawing, and a description.

    • Mr. Bell says:

APPROVED…but it sounds like your starting point is to research how a 3D printer could make something edible. From there, look at creating some type of app.

  4. Matthew says:

I’m going to make a model micro chip that gets in serted into your brain and then you can grab electricity out of the air than you put your hand onto a flat surface you can make a moving image. I’m passionate about it because it could be the next big thing. I want to learn if it would be possible to store electricity in a living thing. I want to add more information about micro chips. My presentation will look like a model micro chip with in a case.

    • Mr. Bell says:

APPROVED…but it may be best to have one focus and gradually add the others. It appears you have several ideas: microchips, storing energy, image projection. I’ve added a few presentation ideas to Alexa’s post – take a look.

      Quick Fix:
      – Use then when there is a sequence of events: “the air then you put…”

  5. Alexa says:

My passion project is about the pointe shoe. I am passionate about dance and I just took my first pointe class today and found out how dangerous it is if it is not done properly. I also love the feeling you get when you figure out a dance move. I want to learn how to dance in this shoes with out breaking my ankles plus I would enjoy learning how the ballet shoe turned into the point shoe. I am hoping to add ideas of how I can make the shoe stronger and convertible for people who are more sensitive to hard surfaces then others. My presentation will have lots of yellow, purple, pink and most light colours on it plus diagrams, information on the history and possibly some props/examples.

    • Mr. Bell says:

      APPROVED!

I am already hooked and interested to see where your research and innovations lead – great idea! In terms of your presentation, feel free to use a variety of formats: poster display, video/audio, presentation, slide show…the possibilities are endless! Remember, we will be presenting many times during the project; some of the ideas you will be expected to share are: what your connection/interest is, what questions you have, what you find out, what are new (or future) ideas based on your knowledge…

  6. Gabby says:

I’ve decided to do a Venus fly trap! I just got one and they interest me so much. If they could talk I would be asking so many questions. One of my questions are: How do they digest the bug? Like they don’t have stomachs or anything that really confuses me. I think I will do a poster bored or a slide show I’m not positive quite yet. I’m bringing my Venus Fly Trap in for my presentation aswell.

    • Mr. Bell says:

APPROVED…but be sure to connect what you research to a new use. Once you discover the workings of the plant, be innovative and suggest how this plant can be used beyond eating bugs.

  7. Trey says:

My idea for a passion project is to find a way to make things foam over, explode or implode using kitchen ingredients. These ingredients will include food dye, vinegar and baking soda.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Trey, why are you passionate about the topic? What do you want to learn? What new ideas are you hoping to add to the research? What will your presentation look like?

Answer these questions, and your project is APPROVED!

  8. Brendan says:

I was thinking of something like mood contacts. Its a mix of eye contacts and a mood ring. Mood eye contacts. You would put it on your eye it would help you see and and the same time it would ether make your eye change color or the contact. It would work by the heat of your eye or however it works I will research it and change the color of your eye instead of your eye being naturally blue or brown .

    Brendan

  9. Sarah says:

For my passion project I am going to do a shirt/tank top for jogging, sports etc. The shirt can go into a long sleeved shirt or a tank top. So if you are too hot you can push the button on the control pad to make it a T-shirt or a tank top. The shirt can also make you warmer or cooler if you want by pressing a button on the control pad. The shirt absorbs moisture as well. It is flexible, comfortable and easy to move in. I am passionate about this because I like sports and the idea. To make it go into different styles of shirt’s it is the type of fabric it can extend and shorten. It is just a regular running shirt but it can change. I am hoping to make a poster for my final presentation.

  10. Kiira says:

For my project I have decided to do a training figure skate. It’s a skate that has a dial on it that you punch in the trick that you want to learn. The skate glides on the Ice and leaves ink behind for you to follow.

I am passionate about this project because I love skating and sometimes I don’t have coaches to show me an example.

I want to learn the science behind it and how it’s able to move on the Ice by itself .

Some ideas that I’m hoping to add to the research is ability to put sensors on your skates because sometimes you don’t always know if your doing something wrong.

My presentation with be a poster diagram, with lots of colour. And maybe some props.

  11. serena says:

I am going to do a study on coral reefs. One of my questions is why do so many fish like to live on coral reefs? I also want to find out what fish live in harmony with what plants. The reason I want to do coral reefs is because I love marine life and saltwater fish.

    • Mr. Bell says:

You have an interesting topic Serena. How will it be more than a research project? You must do more than retell the information you find.

Once you have answered this question, you project is APPROVED?

  12. sydney says:

My genius hour is about how to make a more affecinate easier way to interact at school. My genius hour project is about a new micro chip that latches onto a peice of clothing. You will think of what you want to say think it in your mind and the micro chip will squezze out a bubble with the words. The bubble will float to the top of your head and it will dissepear in 30 seconds. Only people with other micro chips on there clothing will be able to understand. Once you put the micro chip on you will not be able to talk. Once you take the micro chip off you have to move your mouth a lot to get the words coming out again, It will take 30-60 seconds. That is my genuis hour project.

    • Mr. Bell says:

This is a rather interesting idea Sydney. What research are you performing? Are you investigating micro chips, brain impulses or image projection? What is your passion linked to this topic? Once you have answered these questions, your project is APPROVED!

  13. Kobe says:

I gonna do a pop up DJ set pocket addition by having a little square devise and you. Just put it on the ground press on it with your finger and then boom the DJ set up pop up just like that.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Kobe, your idea is unique and interesting. What are you planning to research – what do you want to learn? Why are you passionate about this topic?
Once you answer these questions, your proposal is APPROVED!

      Quick Fix:
      – I am going to…(never use ‘I gonna’)
      – There is a difference between device and devise. Device is a noun, while devise is a verb. You could say you wanted to devise a device for a DJ set.

  14. Gabby says:

My new idea is airplanes with glass floors. This idea appeals to me because it would be an awesome experience on airplanes with glass floors. I want to learn how the glass can hold so much weight. I think plexy glass would work. Maybe a few layers. I will do a presentation on the smart board.

  15. Garet says:

I think that I should be allowed to create a device that absorbs stuff like bugs using a compressed gas to blow air out one end with a filter so that it would bring up air and light weight bugs outside use only though

    • Mr. Bell says:

What is you passion for this topic – bugs? compressed gas? What are you planning to research?

Once you answer these questions, you project proposal is APPROVED!

  16. mackenzie says:

My project is to invent a paint brush the has all the colors in it and it has the colors you just click the color you want and that’s the color you want. The paint brush will also never run out of paint. I am passionate about it because I love to do art.

  17. Brandon says:

I want to make a waterproof marker and waterproof paper so you can write in pools, lakes, under the tap. I am passionate about this topic because it will be fun to learn about it. My presentation will be on the smart board.

  18. seth says:

It would cool having a guitar with a built-in amplifier.

Instead of having the input on the outside of the guitar it could be on the inside, only with the cord built in to the input and the other end of the cord built in to a little box-shaped amplifier in side the guitar. The volume nob on the guitar could be for the amplifier.

    • Mr. Bell says:

You’ve got something good to work with. What is your passion in relation to your topic? There is a difference between passion and cool? What are you wanting learn about guitars and amplification? What do you see your presentation looking like?

Respond to the questions above and your project topic is APPROVED!

      • Seth says:

Here’s my new paragraph for my passion project:

For my passion project, I want to make a guitar with a built-in amplifier. I am passionate about this because I play guitar and for people in a band that play guitar don’t really have a chance of tripping over the cords all over the stage. And, all that they really have to set up is the drums. I want to learn how to make a guitar and an amplifier so I can make it work. On a guitar, the input is on the outside, but instead it could be on the inside. There can be a little 10 inch cord, one end built into the input, and the other in an input in a little 5 by 5 inch amplifier inside the guitar. For the sound to come out there could be a little screen like there are on any amplifier. The volume nob could be for the amplifier that’s inside the guitar. In the end I think it will look like a guitar just with an amplifier screen and no input on the outside.

  19. Sarah says:

I am going to research fabrics that can make you warmer and cooler, longer and shorter, and a fabric that can go back to it’s original size. I am also going to research the affects of over heating on the human body.

  20. Beau says:

My topic is puting helium in a bmx tire. I am passionate about this project because I
bmx alot and I do tricks. I want to learn if I can do trickes without falling. I am going
to add a dial so when I run low on helium I know when to more helium back in the tires. I am also adding tubes around the frame of the bike and fill it with helium.
For my presentation I will have a poster.

  21. Trey says:

I actually have a different passion project! I actually want to do a collection system that collect the CO2 from the exhaust system of a car and keeps it in a canister. Then you keep your root plants (fruit and veggies) in a temp. controlled container at 10 degrees Celsius. Have a valve so that when you put the CO2 in it displaces the oxygen and the plants live longer in that environment.

  22. serena says:

I want to change my idea and do one on frogs because I think frogs are really cool because they’re are so many different kinds and they all are different. One of my questions is why do frogs like to live in water and on land? another one is where do they like to live more? I also want to find out why some can’t jump very far? What are the sticky pads on some of their feet made of? What is the perfect habitat for them? When I’m done I want to be able to figure out how to have a man made habitat for them but have it look natural. So if you wanted a pet frog you would know how to make the perfect habitat for them and make them feel like they are not in captivity.

    • Mr. Bell says:

You have lots to research and an interesting idea for something new. Has someone previously designed the ideal (artificial) frog habitat? APPROVED!

  23. tj says:

My new passion project I want to make a breaking devise fit for a long board. I am very passionate about this topic i want see if this has already been invented and what i could add to this topic. My presaentation is going to be a video of me building the brakes and how it works.

    • Mr. Bell says:

This is a great idea TJ! I look forward to where it leads you.

      Quick Fix:
      – You’ve used breaking and brakes in your post. One of them is correct. What is the difference between break and brake?

  24. macknzie says:

I want to look into waterproof phone I am passionate about it because I think it would be fun to learn about.

    • Mr. Bell says:

Thanks for starting Mackenzie. Now, read the questions at the beginning of this post and add more details. Why are you passionate about phone? water? Once you have this in mind your proposal will be approved.

  25. Asia says:

My topic is a Teleportation Device/Machine. I’m passionate about it because if it were to be invented I woud be able to teleport to any band concert I would like, and I am very passionate about bands and music. Plus, I like to travel and I’d be able to travel anywhere instantly. I want to learn if it’s possible to invent such a thing and if anyone has invented or attempted to invent something similar. I’m hoping to learn how close people have gotten to inventing it and an estimation of what year it will be invented in. I have not yet decided what my presentation will look like but I will most likely show a YouTube video on the SmartBoard and read something on Teleportation to the rest of the class.

  26. Mariah says:

My passion project is an app where you have the choice of hologram reading and it can also teach other people to read plus you can write you own stories on the app also!

  27. Austin says:

i want to make a dirt bike with wings so it could FLY

    • Mr. Bell says:

Austin, this idea is interesting, but you must add more detail to your proposal. Read the questions for this topic as well as some of the posts written by your classmates.

  28. tj says:

My new passion project is to make a drift trike that can go on dirt. I am passionate about this topic because I have always liked drift trikes. My project is going to be a drift trike with rubber wheels

  29. Tyler says:

My idea is to make a street bike that is powers by rockets. Like instead of tires u don’t get speed wobble and u will go faster then ever. U will be able to fly. And how doesn’t want to fly like really and the bike parks it’s self!

    • Mr. Bell says:

This sounds like an interesting idea! APPROVED!

      Quick Fix:
      – What is the difference between u and you? Which one is expected when you are writing for a school audience?

  30. Mrs. Wood says:

Your Genius Hour and Passion Projects sound like lots of fun. I can’t wait to see the finished projects! What would I design/research if I were in this class? Hmmm….

    • Mr. Bell says:

Thanks Mrs. Wood! It has been an interesting way to approach learning in the classroom. Some students dove right in with a giant splash while others are testing the waters slowly. That said, the ideas are indeed remarkable!

  31. Brandon says:

My projet is to make my own realty tv show called “art if you dare”
I’m passionate about this because I love realty tv shows live the voice etc
I want to learn the history of reatly tv when the 1st one was what was it
My presentation will be having people be the judges, cast members and an audience

    • Mr. Bell says:

This sounds interesting Brandon! I am curious to know how many reality shows have been created so far. Do you think your idea will be the ‘next big thing’ on television?
