Hi Class! Last year about 8 out of 10 students graduated in our school district. So in a class of 20 students, four did not complete high school. What is your reaction? (By the way, we have 22 students in our class.)

I think that is kinda weird!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 😉
So how do we improve the graduation rate in your opinion?
I say we should all get a good education and all graduate
Lower the expectations and let more people graduate….. That would be better a lot better. 123456789
If expectations are lowered, what will happen to the expectations we have for doctors, engineers, pilots?
By trying your best or doing what I do…… just getting C+’s.
What do you mean by weird?
it’s scary as heck!!!! :O
What should be done to improve the graduation rates? Do schools, students, parents have to do more?
“Parents should do more to help the graduation rates.”
In Grade 12 (17-18 years old) do you see yourself wanting your parents to do your jobs?
no
That is bad. we should be able to all graduate.
What needs to change in your opinion?
I think that isn’t fare.
That could be anyone!!!
NOT FARE
Quick Fix:
fare = something you pay to ride a bus, train, plane, taxi…
fair = just, correct, appropriate
:(:(:(
Could you add some words – this is a writing activity.
I think its bad that for kids didn’t graduate from school
So what should be done in you mind to help all students graduate?
Well I guess the people that didn’t graduate should work harder and the people who did graduate should keep working. 123456789
How would you suggest people ‘work harder’?
I think thats horrible because you need to graduate to get a job and have a career. If only 8 out of 10 high school students graduated then thats only half.
Indeed, many jobs require a a Dogwood (the certificate you get when you graduate in BC), but is that enough for a ‘good job’?
That is very weird I think all the students that go to school should graduate and finish school so they can have a good job and an education.
So what needs to be done to increase the rate?
i dont know
Put some more thought into it and write something meaningful later.
make the kids stay in school so they can get a job
Do you think forcing 17-18 year olds is practical or possible?
I think that it would really be unfortunate that they had to go through the same grade again.
OK I think it would be really UNFORTUNATE that you’d have to go through the same grade AGAIN.
I would want to graduate and not stay in high school.
Why do people not graduate do they not study? I think if they had more work they would not graduate as fast so ether less work or more time
By more time do you mean longer school days, longer school years?
I do not want longer high school days
What if the extra time helps you learn more?
🙁 🙁
Please write a meaningful response using words.
I think that is weird. I think if people don’t do well in school then I guess they should stay in high school but its not fair that people are always stressing out because even if they did do something wrong or not as good as others they don’t get to go to collage. why oh why! 😮
I think the school district should allow more opportunities when it comes to school because more people should be what ever they want to be when they grow up.
?????what, I don’t understand ……I think Daniel IS RIGHT WE SHOULD ALL BE ABLE TO graduate …but they should have asked the teachers for more help.
Asking for help is difficult. Additionally, some students just don’t care. How do we help (or inspire) the students who don’t ask for help or don’t care about their education?
thats weird dont u think people.
What is weird? Put some specific ideas into your post please.
I think its kinda freeky
This generic response does not say much…Please put some specific details into your posts.
I think we should all be able to graduate.
Yes! This is not the case currently (2 in 10 students do not graduate). What should be done?
I think they should let everyone go to collage as long as they earned it
🙂
Quick Fix:
collage: a genre of art where various things are combined (usually with glue) to create an image
college: post secondary institution
Agreed
Ashley don’t think that!
I think they need to try harder. You have to graduate in order to get a good job.
Could you explain what ‘try harder’ means to you?
I think teenagers should pay more attention to teachers so they have a chance of graduating.
Paying attention is one piece of the puzzle. What else needs to change / improve?
I think the people who didn’t graduate should work harder and study more often if they wanna graduate.
I think gettin a good education and a good job
Complete your sentence Mateen. ‘I think getting a good education and a good job is important because…“
I think gettin a 9oood education anddd a good jjoobb iss manditory
Why?
