Maverick Market Update

Preparedness and Positivity Plummet!

A hasty cleanup caused the Maverick Market to crash near the end of trading Monday. Both stocks lost 10 points (or 10%) when nine chairs went unstacked and classroom materials such as rulers, pencils and protractors were not put away:

Messy Getaway

Mr. Bell believes the quick losses can be reversed if the class does not repeat this phenomenon Tuesday.

Hi Class! As we get going in our first full week of classes, consider how FUN can be incorporated in what we do. Remember this:

This week, share any and all ideas you have so that we can have fun while performing all kinds of learning activities. Challenges can be fun…share your thoughts.

Hi Class! Your first bit of ‘homework’ is to show our blog to a parent then leave a reply to this post before Monday. Use only your first name when replying and the email address required to submit a post can be invented.

Be sure to point out the Agenda tab too. Parents can see what we are doing while students can access activities they ‘forget’ at school or when they are absent.

Wow, it’s time…to…

Remember, school starts Tuesday (September 8) at 10:30 and is only a half day. If you have yet to get your school routine going, start now! Eat, read, play, think, sleep, then repeat. It’s exactly like summer except for the bell that rings  😉

See you soon.

The Bright Red Book Bus visits MSES throughout the summer. Click here to see the schedule. Regular reading throughout the summer break is important, as it allows students to maintain the gains they have made from the school year. Similarly, the shock of ‘hitting the books’ in September can be minimized because students have maintained their stamina by reading regularly.

FREE – Summer Math Camp – click here. If you child often achieves a C- in Math, here’s a free opportunity to build skills for a few weeks to start the summer break. This camp is also a great way for struggling (soon to be) high school students to shorten the ‘break’ from math if their Math 8 course is in the second semester (February 2016)!

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Your child’s PEN number can be found on their report card. If you are unable to locate the PEN number, please contact Mr. Bell at school 250-372-2027 or via email (brbell@sd73.bc.ca).

Hi Class! Today’s InSPIRE presentation was a terrific opportunity to consider future career paths. Be sure to check out DISCOVERSKILLSBC.CA for ideas, information and inspiration. In addition to great variety of paths in trades that will suit diverse interests, it was wonderful to hear Randy (our presenter) debunk the myths about trade careers. In addition, he stressed the importance of graduating high school!
