I’m Funny
I am funny
thats who am I
I am funny
Make you laugh n cry
I am funny
Do funny things
I am funny
I like to play with strings
I am funny
And i don’t care
I look funny in my underwear
It’s funny that I’m funny
Thats what I like to be
So lets be funny together
Be funny like me
I can relate to this poem because I like to be funny and this poem explains that. This poem kind of rhymes at some parts.
Make deeper connections Spencer – do you (or others) see you as funny? Why? Do you play the strings? Have you made people cry from something so funny? What was it?
Write a complete paragraph where you share specific connections.

I love the poem as I sit on my horse because I just feel so in touch with horses when I see them. It feels like they speak to me and I love to ride on them feel the wind blow through my hair and the horses breathing. I like cleaning the horses and grooming them afterwards. I love the feel of there lips tickling my hand and how they stand. They stand with confidence. I relate to it because I used to love to ride and know I cant as much but I go riding every once in a while. That is what i love about horses.
Thanks for sharing your poem Sydney! I connected with the scenery in the poem – the fields, the blue sky, the breeze – they are all things I enjoy about being outdoors.
Do you notice any patterns in the poem you chose?
They all have 4 lines in a verse. They all have and starting in the second line of each verse.

A kid on a trampoline,
All day long to jump and scream
Oh what fun to run and jump ,
Flying higher with each bump .
Inhibitions in a bin ,
Pumping with adrenalin,
I’ll break the news to you all ,
Up you go and then free fall .
I went up and I came down .
I touched the sky ,off the ground ,
I saw things not many see
Like a cat up in a tree ,
I had this agility
To land oh so purr-fectly
The soar again with a scream ,
On a magic trampoline .
Its sad but I must announce,
Time to go
So ends the bounce .
I like poem because it involves a trampoline anything with a trampoline. trampoline is my most favourite sport in the whole world. And this poem also kind of explains what I did when I first started jumping on a trampoline.
This poem is cool to me because I like anything that rhymes.
This is a terrific poem and it links to your passion too! Add more to your connections Jaxson. What gets your adrenaline going now? Do certain moves bore you or challenge you? What makes you scream (inside or out) when you are soaring? Would you compare your agility to a cat or another animal?

I really liked this poem because it talks about riding your horse with all that your worth. I really connected to this poem because when i ride horses I fell like there is nothing in the world to worry about. I love how the wind feels in my face when I’m riding and I love to brush my horse and clean it’s hooves. When I get on my horse I see the world in a whole new way and it seems like all my worries just disappear. I love the feel of there muzzle on my hands when I feed them and when they give me kisses.
I enjoyed reading about your connections Serena – well done! I have enjoyed riding horses a few times, but I don’t think I’d ever want to be a cowboy.
Quick Fix:
– all that you are (you’re) worth; or perhaps all of your worth (the worth belonging to you)
– clean its hooves (not it is)
**I was unable to load the link to your poem. Next time you open it, let me know and I will read it.
The third paragraph is a really good part because it is someone who she loved and then she remembers what happened and then the flash back turns into a nightmare. that was my favourite part. it connected with me because I write poems like that but they are PRIVATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So no one can find them they are hidden.
search the link: —————————> http://www.poetry.com/poems/584898-Her-Maimed-Soul 🙂
Shace, is this a poem you have read before this activity, or did you come across it in your search for this assignment?
What other connections do you make with this poem?

My Mom’s Spaghetti. This is a poem that perfectly explains my Mom’s spaghetti, its disgusting. It smells bad, its tastes REALLY bad, and it looks like….. mush. Their are definetly always leftovers that we get to eat the rest of the week, and my dog she never died from it, but it sure did make her sick. I don’t know if I did the web address thing correctly so here is the poem anyways:
My mom makes disgusting spaghetti
with horseradish sauce and sardines.
She tops it with pickles and mustard,
bananas and barbecued beans.
She serves it for supper on Sunday.
On Monday we have it for lunch.
It’s breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
By Thursday, you guessed it, it’s brunch.
I don’t like to hurt my mom’s feelings.
I said that I loved it. (I lied.)
I always gave mine to our doggy.
And that’s why our poor doggy died.
So next time you serve us spaghetti,
dear mother, don’t make it like that.
Please serve it with red sauce and meatballs,
and that way it won’t kill the cat.
Thanks for sharing Jillian! How could your mom’s spaghetti be improved?
What poetry form is this poem? Does it follow a pattern?
Quick Fix:
– it is disgusting = it’s
– there are leftovers (not their)
This poem follows an A B A C pattern, like the “roses are red…” poems that we have already done. Ways to improve my moms spaghetti? Well maybe some cooking classes, and an actual recipe!
This is my poem;
http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/natural-life
I have always been a person more interested with the outdoors than inside starring at the television. I have always preferred to venture the vast woodland than to be restricted into a city. This poem expresses my thoughts of nature and all the beauty that comes with it. When I read it, I had memories rush in about childhood adventures, camping trips, and all those off-trail hikes. Just to have that feeling again, like I’m away from the busy city, it was bliss.
The poem follows a rhythm of A, B, A. I am guessing it is a type of clerihew.
Thanks for sharing your poem Shaleyea.I connected with the line about dancing in the rain (and not avoiding storms) because there are always challenges in life (the storms) and hiding from them is not the best option.
Quick Fix:
– What is the difference between ‘staring’ and ‘starring’?
http://www.poems4you.org/Faith-poems.html
*My connection to this poem is that at one point in my past I was in the darkness of my hatred it had drowned me of my faith and hope.
*This is a poem of true meaning and true passion it can connect to the sole as it were one
Thanks for sharing your poem Kira! Being optimistic, or having faith and hope is a valuable trait to help in difficult situations. Seeking support from others is important too when one is going through challenging times.
zer0’s haiku
What’s the hold up? / Is someone in the bathroom? / Are you on the phone?
I LIKE THIS POEM BECAUSE IT IS FROM OONE OF MY FAVOURIT GAMES AND IT EXSPESES WHAT GOES THROUGH YOUR HEAD WHEN YOU ARE WAITING FOR SOMETHING.(P.S ITS A HAIKU)
Thanks for sharing Jake. What game is it from? When do you find yourself asking the question, “What’s the hold up?” What do you do in those situations?
Quick Fix:
– using ALL CAPS when typing implies you are yelling at the reader
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vD3c30mHhHQ/SYks2K14gAI/AAAAAAAALI8/2JXgUnSu5GU/s400/sweet+bird+poem.jpg
I like this poem because it has lots of pretty words in it and it’s about spring. It tells you about a bird flying through the sky. This poem is unique because it is really calm and peaceful. This poem is a nice poem for when you are waiting for spring and you are experiencing winter. The poem has many words like sweet, loving and peaceful. Another thing I noticed was it makes you feel like your lifting off earth and going out to fly.
Thanks for sharing this poem Kelsey, I love the use of words like ‘thy’ and ‘thou. Do you find the spring to be calm and peaceful? It certainly is lovely when the sun climbs higher in the sky and the trees begin to blossom. I especially like not having to wear a heavy coat!
My favourite poem is Sister for sale. In this poem a little boy is trying to sell his sister. He asks who will start the biding first he starts at 1 dollar, and then a nickel, then a penny. My connection to this story is that I would like to sell my sister some times. And the poem describes sisters beautifully.
Thanks for sharing your connections with the poem. Is there a link you can provide so others may read it?
What are some of the instances you would sell your sister? What amount of money would you seek? Do you think there is a poem entitles ‘Brothers for sale’?
http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/not-just-a-teacher-but-a-friend
this connects to me because well I been with the same teacher twice and I think I’m going to miss Mr.Bell next year when I’m in high school.
Thanks for sharing this poem Melissa! It’s important to make connections with all kinds of people in our lives (parents, peers, teachers…) as they can be sources of inspiration or an ear to listen. Demonstrating kindness, caring and honesty toward others is key.
http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/love-for-big-sister
I can relate to this poem because I have two big sisters and I admire them both. It tell every thing about them and me. It tell about sisters and how you look up to them and how spacial they are to you. 🙂
This is a great poem Jada – have you shared it with your sisters? What are some of the fun memories you have of playing and laughing with your sisters?
Do you notice patterns in the poem’s structure?
They work night and day, but to them it is play;
They would rather fly airplanes than eat
The weather won’t stay them, winds merely delay them,
For their stuff is too stern for defeat.
Thanks for sharing Tyler! What are your connections to this poem? Why did you choose it? Do you see any patterns?
http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/my-annoying-older-sister
I chose this poem because it is how my older sister is, and what i think of her and what i want to do or i will get in a lot of trouble.
Thanks for sharing this poem Rayne – rivalries happen often between siblings. Do you see yourself feeling this way forever, or is it a phase? My brothers and I had some disputes when we were younger, but get along well today. I think it is because we are older, but it helps that we do not have to sit together in the back seat of the car either!
I love sleeping that’s why I chose this one and forget about everything stressful in my life. This is the website http://www.poemhunter.com this is what’s it called Sleep
Sleep
For you’re tired of your troubles
Sleep
For your body is weary
Sleep
For it spares your eyes from crying
Sleep
In order to for get
Sleep
To keep away from your sorrowful regrets
This is an interesting poem about sleep – thanks for sharing it! Do you find it easy to fall asleep when you are stressed? When you wake up do you find you have a fresh perspective on your troubles (or at least more energy to address them)?
http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm
This is my favorite poem because when my awesome cat had past away my mom had read this to me and it made me happy this poem and that all are pets will go to a better place when they all pass on.
Thanks for sharing your connections to this poem Dylan. I never had to deal with losing animals because my siblings are allergic to cats and dogs.
Quick Fix: passed away (not past)
I am a dog you are a flower. I lift my leg to give you a shower I like this poem alot because its funny and I have a dog to relate with the story
Thanks for sharing this clever ABAB rhyme! What deeper connections can you make? Share an incident you’ve experienced where this poem would be a good fit.
Haha I thought this poem was so funny it just stuck in my head.
Fart Poem
by Isaac J
A fart can be quiet
A fart can be loud
Some leave powerful
Poisonous clouds
A fart can be short
Or a fart can be long
Some farts have been known
To sound just like a song
Some farts do not smell
While others are vile
A fart can pass quickly
Or linger awhile.
A fart can create
A most-curious medley
A fart can be harmless
Or silent, but deadly
A fart can occur
In a number of places
And leave everyone
With strange looks on their faces
From wide open prairies
To small elevators
A fart will find all of us
Sooner or later
So be not afraid
Of the invisible gas
For always remember
That farts too, shall pass
Is this innaproppriate?
Potty humour is crude, though kids do talk a lot in this manner. Could the ideas expressed in this poem be done in a less crude fashion? How would you rewrite it?
