Bonjour les amis!

Using the National Film Board of Canada website. View some animated children’s movies in French – if you forget how to filter your search, ask for help! There are many to choose from so do not simply choose the first film that pops up. The only film that cannot be used is The Hockey Sweater because we have already viewed it.

Once you have found one you enjoy, post a response to this thread. First, provide the link to the film (the web address), then explain what the film is about. Include why you have chosen the film (make connections). Finally, identify the French words and phrases you heard that you recognize and understand.

Hi Class! With a provincial election approaching, there are many issues related to citizens who are not permitted to vote because they are under the age of 18. What is the ideal voting age? Explain. Additionally, you are expected to respond to the questions linked to your response.

The Great Fracking Debate…

Hi Class!  It’s time for civilized arguing. You’ve read about fracking and have explored both sides of the issue. Now it is time to take a stand. Are you in favour of or opposed to natural gas fracking?

Post a paragraph stating your position. First, organize your arguments logically, then present them with great linking words and phrases and other linking words and phrases. Make an impact, you are trying to convince people your view is the best.

Obviously, we all think our ideas are the best if we want to win the debate, so the next step is to cross examine or counter the arguments made by others that go against your position. Ask questions, provide counter arguments, and try to find ways to change their minds.  You are expected to reply to all questions posed in your thread. Similarly, you may give support to threads sharing your view as well.

Finally, in a week or two, you will have the last word. Make closing remarks whereby you restate your position, acknowledge the counter arguments made then explain (convincingly) why they are incorrect.

Technology Day…What’s your vision?

Hi Class! The theme day this Friday is Technology Day. What does this suggest to you? Post your response, join the conversation so we can determine our path on Friday. Give the following questions some thought:
